Erwin Heritage Park & History Museum
The Erwin Township Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the past and creating the future in Erwin Township.
The Erwin Township Historical Society formed in 2019, dedicated to preserving the past and creating the future in Erwin Township, Michigan.
Through generous donations, the society was able to purchase its current property, move the building that was once the Erwin East End School (1915) and complete renovations and preservations of Erwin’s last remaining one room school house. The former East End School serves as the historical society museum, full of pictures and artifacts that incorporate all the history of Erwin Township, as well as providing a research library and meeting room available to its members.
Generous donations have allowed the society to build a Heritage Park to capture components of history, heritage, and health. The park includes a half mile paved walking or biking trail with park benches, picnic tables, and story boards pertaining to Erwin Townships history for our visitors. The park also features the area’s first pickleball court, a children’s playground, and an original Erwin township Finnish log sauna to the property to be restored. The park welcomes guests year-round with idyllic cross-country ski and snowshoe trails that connect to the fabulous ABR trail system. A fenced in area displays numerous antique pieces of farm equipment, many used by Erwin Township Pioneers. The ETHS remains excited constantly thinking of new additions for our Heritage Park.
